Fermented Seed 2022

Fermented seed is a 20-page zine based on a poem about periodical cicadas, who sleep underground for 17 years before coming up on the ground. They only live for one month when reaching their adult form. This poem is not about educating scientific facts of cicadas but more about spiritual connection with them. The concept is based on the idea of “transformation of things” in Daoism/Taoism. A Daoism tale could explain this term well: once upon a time a man dreamed that he was a butterfly, enjoying himself flying in the air. He did not know that he was a man when flipping his wings. Suddenly he woke up and found himself in a man’s body. He did not know if he was a man dreaming to be a butterfly or a butterfly dreaming to be a man.
